Tariqe Fosu could miss Charlton’s League One opener against Sunderland after injuring his hamstring.

The Addicks winger, who was sidelined at the back-end of last season with the same muscular problem, was forced off in his side’s 2-0 win over Crawley today.

Lyle Taylor also left the pitch with a limp but is still expected to feature in Tuesday’s game against Brighton.

Valley caretaker boss Lee Bowyer said: “Tariqe is hopefully not as bad as we’re thinking. If it’s his hamstring then something’s wrong somewhere because he didn't finish the season because of his hamstring.

“We’ve had all summer to fix that problem. He can't just be breaking down after three games. Something’s wrong somewhere.

“He’ll be in tomorrow and we’ll have more of an idea on Monday. I’m hoping it’s not serious.

“He’s an exciting player who makes things happen in the final third.

“To lose him before the season starts, from an injury he had at the back-end of the season, it shouldn't be happening.”
