Over 600 people have signed a petition to implement speed restrictions on a road in Penge after a woman narrowly escaped being hit.

Charlotte Farrow, 32, has lived on Thicket Road for three years and fears somebody will be killed before action is taken.

“You have to see it to believe,” she told News Shopper. “Speeding on the road is absolutely horrendous.”

She said she has witnessed five serious accidents during the three years she has lived on the road.

The most recent incident was on Wednesday (June 27) at around 11.45am.

Charlotte explained: “My dog walker was loading my dogs into the back of the car. By some miracle she had a sixth sense and jumped out of the way.

“A car barrelled into the back of the car as his brakes squealed. I don’t know how she got out of the way. The crash could have killed her.”

The dogs, who she said are lucky to have survived, were rescued after their cages had to be forced open after the hit.

“It was with such force that the boot slammed on the girls head and she was knocked out for a second,” Charlotte added.

The driver and the passenger did not suffer any injuries, according to Charlotte.

This latest scare prompted the worried resident to start a petition, which has gained over 600 signatures in over 24 hours.

The petition is calling for speed measures to be implemented on the road, which she described as a race track.

Charlotte said: “We can’t wait until someone is seriously injured or dies. It is a one way system and people drive up it over 50 miles per hour.

“There are two schools at the top and two at the bottom.”

At the time of publishing, Bromley Council or MP Ellie Reeves had not come back to News Shopper with a comment.
