Croydon PrideFest is back for a third year and some of the headline acts have already been confirmed.

After attracting nearly 7000 people at last year's event, it comes as no shock that some big names have jumped on board.

Confirmed acts include Asifa Lahore, star of Channel 4’s ‘Muslim Drag Queens’, and singer songwriter Christopher Haul with Asifa set to host in the afternoon and Chris in the evening.

Trustee of Croydon Pride, Mark Watson, was excited to see what this year's rendition had to offer.

"This is a great event bringing together all parts of the community to celebrate LGBTQ+ people in Croydon in an atmosphere of fun, inclusion and entertainment," he said.

"Wandle Park is set to be a great venue and we’re confident that this year’s event will build on the successes of previous ones.

"As ever with a great party in Croydon, the more the merrier.”

The event will start with a parade from Croydon High Street (near the entrance to St George’s Walk) at 12.15pm on July 14, down to the main event site in Wandle Park.

Live music acts, food and drink stalls will all be art of the attraction, while people wanting to show off their dance moves can take a stroll down to the dedicated dance tent in the park until festivities wrap up at 10pm.

Chairwoman of Croydon Pride, Paula Goodwin, said it business looking to get involved were more than welcome.

"It has been a real success for the last two years and that has been largely due to our sponsors," she said.

"The event would not be the same without community support, so if your company would like to be involved in any way, big or small, please do get in touch, and let’s work together to make PrideFest 2018 the biggest yet.”
