Two girls have received the 'highest honour' in Girl Guiding after completing the Baden-Powell Challenge Award.

Rachel and Scarlett completed 10 challenges from five topics (healthy lifestyles, global awareness, discovery, skills and relationships and celebrating diversity) and were presented awards by the Mayor of Epsom & Ewell, Councillor Liz Frost.

The ceremony, on March 16, congratulated the girls for the leadership skills, independence, and self-motivation they exhibited.

Rachel King, Insurance Officer at Girlguiding, said: “Thanks to the dedication and support of over 100,000 amazing volunteers, we give girls and young women a space where they can be themselves, have fun, build brilliant friendships, gain valuable life skills and discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good.”

In completing the challenge, the girls learned more about the world around them and gained invaluable life skills too.

During the evening, Girlguiding shared highlights from an exciting year – including summer camp and sleepovers.

Other girls were presented with badges for their achievements and six new members were welcomed, with them all making their Girlguiding promise as part of the celebrations.

Guides promise to be an active citizen, to help others, and to develop their spiritual side - whatever they believe or care about, and to respect the beliefs of others.
