A temporary CCTV camera has been installed in a "crime hotspot."
Following concerns from residents about drug dealing, anti-social behaviour, assaults and intimidation when using their local shops, Croydon Council decided to install the camera in Broom Road, Shrublands.
Councillor Hamida Ali hoped this would help improve public safety.
“The camera’s purpose is to deter crime, and fear of crime, protect property and assist in maintaining public order," she said.
“Residents have faced everything from moped theft to possession of imitation firearms, and more vulnerable people no longer come to the area as they are too afraid."
The new camera is one of 10 that will be installed (initially for three months) in other "hotspot" areas.
