A photographer has captured some stunning pictures of a rising moon in Croydon ahead of tonight's "unusual" celestial event.
For the first time in two-and-a-half years, a Blue Moon will rise in the sky, and this photographer has treated us to a little preview.
The pictures show the moon rising behind the Saffron Square last night (January 30).
But what exactly is a Blue Moon?
Well, Blue Moons are defined as the second full moon in a calendar month, but to top things off, this one will also be a supermoon, meaning the Earth's natural satellite will appear about 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter in the sky as it reaches its closest point to Earth, this is known as 'perigee'.
The best time to see the moon at its closest point tonight will be at 7pm.
If you capture any photos of the Blue Moon over Croydon, send them to riley.krause@newsquest.co.uk
