A talking therapies service offering one-to-one online appointments with a therapist including during the evenings and at the weekend is being launched in Merton.

The service will run alongside and support Merton’s main talking therapies service commissioned by CCG Thinkaction Merton (mIAPT).

The free service can help with different mental health problems including anxiety, depression, fears and phobias, panic attacks and social anxiety and shyness.

Dr Andrew Otley, Merton GP and Merton CCG Clinical Director for mental health said: “This is about making sure people can access the support they need, when they need it and at a time and location that works for them.”

Online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can be used to treat a range of common mental health conditions.

It is offered over the internet using written- typed conversations with appointments usually 30-60 minutes long where people can take part from anywhere were they can connect to the internet via PC, smartphone or tablet.
