Costa Coffee has officially opened in South Norwood.

The coffee chain was originally granted planning permission in September and people were left on the edge of their seats as to when the cafe would indeed open.

Now that wait is over as the store opened up in the High Street for the first time on Monday (January 8).

A spokeswoman for Costa said: "Costa is excited to have opened the doors of its brand new store for the residents of South Norwood, creating eight new jobs for the area and giving the previously vacant building a new lease of life.

"The store will be run by a local franchise partner, who is looking forward to becoming an active part of the local community, supporting local events; providing the store as a meeting place and helping with local fundraising activity."

The store also confirmed that the South Norwood site will be able to seat approximately 60 people.
