Police are appealing after a man was shot in the arm during the early hours in Stockwell this morning.

Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to Stockwell Road shortly after 1am after reports of a shooting.

A man in his 30s was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his left harm.

He was later taken to hospital by the LAS where he remains in a stable condition, with his injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

Stockwell Road has now fully reopened following an overnight police investigation.

Clapham buses currently remain diverted according to Transport for London (TfL), with routes 2, 196, 333, and 345 affected in both directions and unable to serve Brixton Station.

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.

Officers from the Met's Trident and Area Crime Command are currently investigating and appealing for information.
