You can forget about taking a shortcut from Addiscombe Road to Lower Addiscombe Road anytime soon.
That is because as of tomorrow (January 10), Croydon Council is putting in permanent driving restrictions on both Addiscombe Court Road and Canning Road which will see any time-saver made obsolete.
In a traffic management order made on January 2, council said that drivers were not allowed to enter either Addiscombe Court or Canning Road at the junction with Addiscombe Road.
This order will not apply to cyclists however, who will be free to use the road as they were before. Drivers will still be able to use other side streets to cut across as well.
There will now be permanent islands in place to stop drivers entering from Addiscombe Road, although drivers will be free to leave the both streets as normal.
