A man died after being hit by a train at East Croydon station yesterday evening (Monday, November 4).
He was struck by a Thameslink train from London Bridge to Brighton at about 6pm on Platform 2.
The British Transport Police, the Met Police and London Ambulance Service were called to the scene at about 6.20pm.
The incident caused long delays across the network after the station was evacuated and closed.
A BTP spokesman said: “British Transport Police officers were called after a report that a person had been struck by a train.
“Officers from British Transport Police and the Met responded to the incident that was reported at 18.20pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“Medics from the London Ambulance Service also attended and a male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Officers are currently working to identify the person and inform his next of kin. A file will be prepared for the coroner.
“The train involved was the 17.57pm London Bridge to Brighton service and the line was handed back at 19.27pm.”
