This Eltham man has got his firefighting equipment and gear ready – but it’s not to tackle fires himself.

Elliott Rogers is instead set to play the new recruit on the hit BBC drama Casualty.

It was a big step for the Eltham actor as it was his first time even on a television set.

The show has a proud history of giving screen time to future stars, including Orlando Bloom, Kate Winslet, David Walliams, Minnie Driver, Jerome Flynn and Martin Freeman.

Elliott said: “From an acting point of view, everything was there in terms of set and costume. You really didn't need to do anything apart from live in that moment.

“The crew had the costumes, the props all down do the finest detail. Therefore I was just simply a fireman when I stepped into that world.”

Elliott will play the role of Lenny Johnson, a new firefighter recruit on Casualty, and found himself acting with people who had been on the show for 30 years.

He said: “The whole experience was amazing. I even got my own trailer, something I thought I would never see.

“In the second and last week of filming I started sharing scenes with the regulars, which in all honesty was hugely nerve racking.

“I was acting opposite people who have been doing that show for up to 30 years.”

Elliot’s episode of Casualty will be on BBC1 on December 2 at 9.10pm.
