A man who pleaded guilty to drink driving in a truck has been ordered to carry out 120 hours of community service.

Imtiaz Asgar, of Goldwell Road in Thornton Heath, pleaded guilty to driving the 44 tonne DAF truck in Weir Road while being over the legally prescribed limit.

The 44 tonne model is the heaviest manufactured by DAF, and is the largest allowed on UK roads.

Asgar was found to be driving the truck with 91 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, more than double the legal limit, on August 8.

Appearing in Wimbledon Magistrates' Court yesterday, August 23, he was ordered to carry out the community service over the next year.

The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Asgar was also fined £170 and has been disqualified from driving for 28 months.
