A charity that helps the elderly raised nearly £20,000 while it celebrated its 70th anniversary, it has announced.

Crowds enjoyed dancing, classic car, bus and motorbike displays, and a dog show, at Age Concern Epsom and Ewell’s (ACEE) Golden Days Festival last month.

Cream teas, facepainting, and arts and craft stalls, were also on offer at the festival in Nonsuch Park in Cheam on Sunday, July 2.

The charity, which provides elderly people with transport, advice and befrienders, announced it raised more than £19,500 at the celebration.

Festival-goers enjoyed the day out too, with ACEE reporting that visitors had told them:

  • “I have a complaint, I couldn’t get my elderly aunt to leave!”
  • “Everyone had a big smile on their faces”;
  • “A very great and memorable day”;
  • “We adored every minute”;
  • “Great atmosphere, throngs of happy people, just brilliant!”
  • “Lovely to see the generations having fun together”;
  • “So imaginative and creative”;
  • “One of the best organised shows we have been to”;
  • “Absolutely fantastic - I loved every second of it.”
