Tooting residents should be on high alert as fraudsters masquerading as builders are trying to con people out of money.
"Rogue Traders" are calling to offer roof repairs but scamming people out of cash.
According to the council: "The conmen operate by cold calling at victim’s homes. Householders are warned not to open the door unless they are expecting someone.”

Residents who need building work done are being urged to get three quotations and to check companies carefully before employing anyone.
Taking recommendations from family or friends or using a trusted trader scheme such as Trustmark is advised.
The council added: “Do not be forced to make any large payments up front before any work is carried out. Never accept a lift from the trader to your bank to withdraw large sums of cash.”
