A man has died after being struck by a van in an alleged hit and run in New Addington.
Police were called to the junction of King Henry's Drive junction with Calley Down Crescent at 5.44pm yesterday, where they found a 66-year-old man injured.
Paramedics tried to revive the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The van driver did not stop but a 34-year-old later handed himself in to a south London police station.
He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and for failing to stop at the scene. He remains in custody.
The victim of the alleged hit and run has yet to be formally identified but his next of kin has been informed.
Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating and a post-mortem examination is set to be conducted.
