New Addington's farmers market attracted residents curious to discover new and indulge in old varieties of fruit and vegetables last weekend.
The sale, in Market Place, Central Parade on Saturday morning, featured Kent's Perry Court Farm, which offered visitors the chance to taste over 40 varieties of apple selected from hundreds it grows. A highlight was the longest peel competition - the lucky winner receiving three bottles of juice extracted from their favourite variety of apple.
A spokesman for the farmers' market said: "I hope everyone realised how much better it is to taste a freshly picked apple from a local orchard rather than one which has been covered in preservatives so it can be flown half way around the world to reach you."
