Flowers, candles and emotional tributes have been left at spot where a father-of-three was shot dead at close range.

Dozens of bouquets have been laid in Eastney Road, Broad Green, since aspiring rapper Akeem Moore was gunned down on Friday night.

The 22-year-old, who performed music under the name Tuggzy, was pronounced dead in the street after being shot at about 11.25pm. 

One card left at the scene reads: "I can't believe you were taken so soon.

"Continue to shine bright my angel, you are such a beautiful soul. Love you forever, rest up baby boy."

Family and friends have lit candles and left bottles and balloons at the vigil for Mr Moore, a former pupil of St Mary's Roman Catholic High School and student at John Ruskin College.

Grieving loved ones have also posted heartfelt tributes on social media.

His mother Lilian Hinchley-Nelson wrote on Facebook hours after his killing: "Today I mourn the death of my eldest son. May God give myself and my family the strength and comfort at this time. 

"I love you my baby prince Akeem, may your soul rest in sweet perfect peace."

Mr Moore's partner and the mother of his son wrote on Twitter: "Missing you so much I just want everyone to know how loving this boy was. Honestly my heart’s so broken”.

Police launched a murder investigation after Mr Moore's shooting but have yet to make any arrests and are urging witnesses to come forward.

A woman who lives in Eastney Road and wanted to remain anonymous reported hearing gunshots on Friday night.

She told the Croydon Guardian: “I heard two bangs. Sounded like fireworks.

“I have lived here all my life almost and to hear that someone has been murdered, where I have always lived – it’s a bit of a shock. 

"He was a dad too, I heard. And so young. Devastating."

A post-mortem examination of Mr Moore's body was due to be held yesterday afternoon.
