A talented dwarf has been named an ambassador of a new nationwide campaign that encourages disabled people to become more active.

Randika Doling, 30, of Westfield Close, Cheam, represented Sri Lanka at the World Dwarf Games 2013 in the US, and was the first to represent the country at an international event and to win a gold medal.

Ms Doling said growing up in Sri Lanka with a disability was a struggle, but she is glad that as an ambassador for Together We Will, she will have the chance to share her story and inspire.

She said: “Living in Sri Lanka with a physical disability is not easy. The majority could not see me beyond my disability which made me then question myself ‘maybe I can’t ?’.

“It’s fantastic that I have been asked to be an ambassador for the Together We Will campaign, so I can share my story and help other people get access to the same advice and support I received [and] so they too can get active with their friends and family.”

Nigel Burton, of the Dwarf Sports Association UK, said: “We are pleased that DSAuk has been able to support Randika in finding an activity that she and her family can enjoy together.

“It is great to see the progress Randika has made after being sign-posted to Dwarf Sports Association UK.”
