A 15-year-old boy has been locked up after he carjacked a woman at knifepoint before joyriding and crashing the vehicle in Croydon.

The boy stole the silver Peugeot 307 in February, pouncing as the female driver was performing a manoeuvre in Elmwood Road.

He threatened her with a knife before stealing the car. But he crashed the hatchback into a parked vehicle in Haslemere Road, police said.

He was sentenced to three years in a youth offenders institution at Southampton Crown Court on Monday, having admitted robbery and threatening a member of the public with a knife.
