A Croydon man has been arrested after climbing over a security fence at Buckingham Palace.
The 22-year-old was detained by police after being spotted on CCTV scaling the fence at about 4.15am today.
He was stopped within a security perimeter and arrested on suspicion of trespassing on a protected site.
The man, who police said "had been drinking", was not armed and did not gain access to the palace.
Officers did not deploy a Taser, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.
The man was being held at a central London police station this afternoon.
The security breach is not thought to have been related to terrorism.
