A man who hid two revolvers at his Battersea home and lied about being an antique gun collector has been jailed for almost six years.

Marvin Jones, 29, who was sentenced today (August 3), was arrested when police found a Smith and Wesson .44 revolver and a Belgian .41 calibre Frontier Gate pistol at his home in Tyneham Close while executing a search warrant on January 15.

He was found guilty on July 14 of the possession of two firearms and failing to tell police the PIN for his mobile phone handsets.

During his interview Jones also refused to tell police how he got the firearms, but during his trial he changed his story and claimed to be a collector of antique guns.

This story was rejected by the Old Bailey jury.

Detective inspector Paul Dorey, from the Trident and Area Crime Command, said: "Marvin Jones is a dangerous individual and I am pleased that he has been dealt with by the courts. The professional and thorough investigation by officers greatly rebutted his nonsense claim that he was an antique firearms collector.

“Today's result serves as a reminder to anybody involved in the possession and use of firearms that officers from Trident will actively pursue them and place them before the courts."

Jones was found not guilty of an offence of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
