Celebrities have shared their dreams for public art trails around the capital to mark the release of The BFG at cinemas and one hundred years since the birth of Bexley’s Roald Dahl.

The movie’s director Steven Spielberg and star Mark Rylance are among the 50 famous faces who have transformed their dreams into sculptures, which have now been placed into jars up to six feet tall and put in trails across town.

Oscar winner Spielberg’s Sweet Dreams jar is on display in Leicester Square.

The unique trail is raising money for Save the Children and Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.

Other celebrities to have taken part include Professor Stephen Hawking, Simon Cowell, Graham Norton, Niall Horan, Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain, Buzz Aldrin and Dame Helen Mirren.

Their designs are arranged into four trails in London, with locations including Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Oxford Street, Covent Garden, the Bank of England, Tower Bridge and Borough Market.

You can find the trails at visitlondon.com/bfg.

The BFG is about a girl names Sophie and the Big Friendly Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant County. Spielberg’s film is released on July 22 and is based on the popular children’s book by Roald Dahl.

Dahl was born in Wales in 1916 but his family moved to Oakwood House in Hurst Road, Bexley in 1927 and he stayed there for a decade until he went to work abroad for Shell.
