A shocking image has surfaced online appearing to show an Old Malden man, who was part of a vicious acid attack that left a woman blind in one eye, grinning and showing off a picture of a woman lying on the ground and holding her face.

The image was uploaded to a Facebook page that purports to be that of Billy Midmore, 23, who was found guilty of inflicting GBH on Carla Whitlock in Southampton in September last year.

Midmore can be seen smiling while holding up a smartphone appearing to display a picture of a woman lying on the ground next to double yellow lines, clutching her face.

Attack: Carla Whitlock, Billy Midmore and Geoffrey Midmore

During the trial, jurors heard how the attack was a "debt to be paid" and organised by Billy and his brother Geoffrey, both of Sheephouse Way, after Ms Whitlock called asking for £100 of drugs and at least two men met Geoffrey and stole £2,000 worth of drug money.

The court was also shown CCTV footage of Billy Midmore buying drain cleaner.

His brother Geoffrey pleaded guilty to the attack at the first opportunity.

The image was updated as Midmore's profile picture on Wednesday, though it is not clear whether or not it was him who uploaded the photo.

Prisoners are not allowed access to social media sites like Facebook and Twitter while in custody.

Midmore will be sentenced at Southampton Crown Court on Tuesday.
