Two young children were taken to hospital after they were attacked and suffered cuts to their upper bodies in Worcester Park.
Police were first called to Ashdown Court, in Idminston Road, at about 12.50pm on Saturday to reports of a disturbance.
They found two children, aged five and seven, having suffered “lacerations to their torsos”, a police spokesman said.
Paramedics attended and both children were taken to hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening.
A forensics team was seen examining the scene of the attack and the road was cordoned off until about 7pm.
A 33-year-old woman has been arrested for causing grievous bodily harm and is still in custody.
