A refugee who journeyed from Afghanistan to the UK as a 12 year-old boy will be in Wimbledon to talk about his experiences after a film screening of his life story.
A film of Gulwali Passarlay's autobiographical book The Lightless Sky will be shown at the Wimbledon Odeon on Monday, April 25.
Actor and director Samuel West will be in conversation with Mr Passarlay after the screening, which will feature a book signing and audience questions as part of the event.
It has been organised in partnership between Wimbledon BookFest and Merton Welcomes Refugees, a voluntary group that offers the hand of friendship and practical support to newly arrived refugees.
Tickets for the event on Monday, April 25, from 7pm, cost £6 plus a booking fee and can be bought from www.eventbrite.co.uk.
