South Croydon 's Khana Peena offers a classic taste of India , writes Nick Rutherford.
Run by four brothers and their nephew, the restaurant in Brighton Road has all of the favourites you would expect from tasty chicken jalfrezi to delectable dansak.
But for those who find it difficult to choose from a menu as large as Khana Peena's, owner Abdul Khalique has helpfully highlighted those dishes he recommends.
He has been in the business for more than 35 years and as well as being proud of his catering, he is also passionate about supporting his local community - sponsoring the Croydon Guardian's Croydon Champions campaign.
Prices range to suit those on modest means and anyone wanting to splash out.
The restaurant is open from noon to 2.30pm for lunch, and 5pm until 11pm for dinner. There is a buffet lunch on Sundays from noon to 3pm , priced £9.95 per head, including a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink. All deliveries are free on orders of £15 and more.
Khana Peena is fully licensed and the restaurant has just been fully refurbished. It is an official caterer to Croydon Council.
