James Dasaolu says he will learn and move on from his disqualification in ISTAF Indoor men’s 60m final on Saturday.

The 28-year-old Croydon Harrier was immediately shown the exit door after bursting from his blocks well before the start gun at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany.

Home favourite Julian Reus was also given his marching orders as the red-hot form Kim Collins, from Saint Kitts & Nevis, easily triumphed in an equal season’s best of 6.53secs.

Dasaolu said: “I just knew I had a quick time in me so I just kind of wanted to get out there and post a time, but I couldn’t. I just have to learn and just move on to the next meet now.”

However, Collins has some sympathy for the south Londoner during his post-race analysis saying: “It is not the same winning with James Dasaolu not in the race."

Dasaolu, who has so far competed in four races in 2016 indoor season and is ranked second in the domestic men’s 60m rankings behind Sean Safo-Antwi, was the fastest qualifier in the heats when he defeated Collins with a season’s best time of 6.58secs.

He added: "I believe I would have gone at least 6.60 low, but I’m in no rush to kind of posting any quick times. I am easing my way into the season.”

And Dasaolu, the current European outdoor 100m champion, will next compete in the British Indoors Championships in a fortnight’s time in Sheffield where he will be looking to qualify for his very first IAAF World Indoor Championships next month in Portland, USA.
