An open weekend exhibiting canvas paintings of Bushy and Richmond Park landscapes will be held in Teddington at the end of the month and for one artist the event is a special occasion.

Nadia Day, a painter and former Kingston University Art student based in Teddington, is holding her first exhibition.

Mrs Day said: "Having grown up in Richmond, the openness and calmness of the park is in my blood.

"With my latest work I have been trying to capture deer in flight, racing through the ferns or locking horns in combat, with the landscape of the park equally the focus.

"I have been following deer on my bike, photographing them and then steeling home to capture the image on canvas while it is still fresh in my mind."

Mrs Day describes her style as "loose and bold" and explained she also does seascapes.

She said: "They are mostly from East Wittering where I spent many memorable teenage years.

"I am aware that many people find calm from the ocean, hence I wanted to offer alternative subject matter at the exhibition."

There will be about 20 pieces at the exhibition available at prices varying from £175 - £595, plus inexpensive mounted prints.

Mrs Day will take commissions over the weekend if someone should want a specific canvas size and subject matter to compliment their home.

The exhibition will be held at 20 Somerset Gardens, Teddington, on January 30 and 31, 10am-9pm.
