Hounslow & District Wheelers hold their premier long-distance promotion, the open 10-mile time trial, on Sunday.
This year's event has attracted 53 competitors, including defending champion, Hounslow's Paul Holdsworth, and former multiple winner Ian Cammish (Planet X Cycles), who on paper is the fastest man in the field, with a qualifying time of three hours 38 minutes.
An unusual but interesting entry that combines experience with enthusiasm comes from Martyn Roach and female tandem partner Jo Dunster.
Roach was national champion over the distance in 1968 and 1976, and previously won this race for four years consecutively from 1973-76.
Dunster has a long-standing connection with the event through her family, and is now fulfilling a childhood ambition to participate as a rider, although she has virtually no experience of time-trialling.
The Ron Brown Memorial 100 will be held on the A31 road between Farnham and Alton, starting from 7.03am.
