The application to develop the old post office site in Kingston town centre has been put on hold, after being refused by the council last month.
St George applied for planning permission to build on the site bordered by Ashdown Road, Brook Street, Eden Street and Wheatfield Way in December 2014.
A meeting of the development control committee voted to refuse the 16-storey tower block on November 5.
The developer has now requested the application be put in “abeyance” – essentially on hold, so that it may change aspects of the application and overcome the reasons for refusal.
Kingston Council has agreed to allow St George the opportunity to submit revised drawings, which will be sent back to a development control committee for a decision at a later date.
