A man who sexually assaulted two young teenage girls aged 12 and 13 years old on buses in Richmond has escaped a prison sentence.
Jeewantha Mandalawalli-Acharige, 30, was caught with the help of CCTV from the buses.
He sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl on the 371 bus on Sheen Road, Richmond, on October 27 last year.
On December 13 he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl on the R70 bus on Richmond Road.
Mandalawalli-Acharige, of Robsart Street, Lambeth, was tracked down by the Metropolitan Police's transport police and arrested on April 15.
He was sentenced to a suspended prison sentence of eight months and will be on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.
Siwan Hayward, Transport fof London's deputy director of enforcement and on-street operations, said: "It is through the reporting of these horrible incidents that the Roads and Transport Policing Command were able to catch and convict the perpetrator for his perverted actions."
