Croydon's MOBO Award winners lauded for 'putting Thornton Heath on the map'

Stormzy, Krept and Konan, Section Boyz and Faith Child together scooped six of the 14 gongs at last night's ceremony.

The success of the four acts - all from Thornton Heath - was lauded on social media, with many praising them for making the area proud.

One fan even cheekily suggested the MOBOs - which celebrate "music of black origin" - should be renamed the "Thornton Heath Awards".

Another tweeted the acts to say: "thank you for putting Thornton Heath on the map".

Stormzy won best grime act and best male act at the awards, while Krept and Konon bagged best album and best hip-hop act.

Faith Child scooped the gong for best gospel act, while rap group Section Boyz won best newcomer - an award for which Thornton Heath grime artist Bonkaz was also nominated.

Ella Eyre, who studied at the Brit School in Selhurst, won best female act.
