A Wimbledon club which gets youngsters face to face with nature has been honoured with an award.
The Wimbledon Common Wildlife Watch Club has been highly commended in the Wildlife Watch Group of the Year 2007 competition.
The club for eight to 14-year-olds received a certificate signed by television presenter Chris Packham, vice-president of the London Wildlife Trust.
Auriel Glanville, who runs the club, said: "We are delighted to receive this award and would like to thank all the children and families who9 have supported us over the last three years and have made this club possible."
The club covers a different subject each month, such as pond dipping, mini beast safari and water divining.
It meets on the first Sunday of every month from 10am to noon at the Information Centre on Wimbledon Common.
It costs £1 to register and £2 per session.
To join, call 020 8540 6154.
