"You couldn't make it up," as they say.

For several weeks I and other local Stanwell residents have been compaining about the frequency and thoroughness of our dustbin collections.

Today, at collection time, I looked out of my window and - behold - there was a positive army of dustmen and inspectors rushing around Diamedes Avenue collection bins and processing rubbish.

"Great," I thought, "at last we've got action and an answer to our enquiries."

I had a word with the inspectors and said how pleased we were to see them and their men.

Later in the day I happened to be passing the back end of Foxglove Close - just opposite where I live.

I could not believe my eyes - the two waste "wheelies" there were still overflowing with rubbish, and piled high with black bags.

And to cap it all my inspector friends were there looking at them.

"The bags are just too high for the men to remove," said one of these gentlemen.

One is reminded of the "wrong kind of leaves" excuse sometime ago.

Just how high is too high for modern technology, I wonder?

Making some comments about how it was all really A2's business the inspectors drove off leaving me scratching my head.

Who, you might say, is going around fooling who?
