Ken Linvingstone had listed in his paper The Londoner this weekend the council taxes paid in various boroughs around London and of course Kingston was by far the dearest. I calculated that in the last 7 years our local taxes had increased by 80 per cent.
Not bad considering that the refuse/recycling collections are lousy (menacing to be cut to every other week), the roads are lousy, traffic is lousy, even this expensive "fountain" in Market Place is lousy, even expensive for not much to see. Now we are railling the river so our Kingston drunks don't fall in the Thames. They can surely jump over it with enough alcohol in their system. I have to rethink whom I will be voting for next time. Where is all the money going? Probably into the theatre that took decades to build.
