In response to Councillor Ian McDonald's letter a few weeks ago can I share one very significant piece of information with you and the readers. Lib Dems have increased Council Tax by a monstrous 68% from 2000/2001 to 2007/2008.
This represents a huge real terms increase in the money they have collected from the residents of this borough and is hugely over the inflation rate from the same time phase. Coun McDonald is somewhat trapped in the past when he talks about, I presume, the closure of the North Kingston School which I assume is the Tudor School (now Tiffins). This occurred in 1986! Tudor School was under-subscribed and difficult decisions needed to be made - decisions the Lib Dems shy away from and instead increase the tax burden for Kingston residents.
If Coun McDonald wants to talk about wasted money let's turn our eyes to the Rose Theatre which represents MILLONS of pounds flowing from the council into a bottomless pit! This is the Lib Dem's legacy to the borough - financial incompetence that you and I will have to pay for in the coming years.
