A strike by fifteen workers looks set to cause holiday mayhem for thousands of air travelers.

The fifteen Gatwick plane refuellers have voted to strike in a dispute with their employer over union recognition.

The refuellers plan to down tools for 24 hours on Wednesday, May 2 and again for 48 hours on Friday May 4 if their employer Gatwick Refuelling Services refuses to recognize and negotiate with the T&G as their union.

The strike has the potential to cause chaos for bank holiday travelers.

T&G organiser Kevin Hall said the 100 per cent vote meant the company could not ignore the wishes of their workers.

He said the union would continue talks with the company.

GRS is owned by BP, Texaco and Total.

It says it has contingency plans in place to get planes fuelled by other experienced workers.

GRS fuels more than two dozen carriers at Gatwick including British Airways, American, Virgin Atlantic, Thomas Cook and Monarch.
