Walton & Hersham boss Les Cleevely says his future at the club is not assured after his side's relegation from the Ryman Premier Division was finally sealed.

Last Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to Boreham Wood, in a game that also saw Delando Smith break his ankle in three places, hammered the final nail into the Swans' coffin, and that disappointment was followed up with a 2-0 defeat to East Thurrock United on Saturday.

But, despite his side's relegation, Cleevely has led his side to much more impressive run of results than his predecesor Bobby Patterson.

The Walton boss told the Comet the Swans board had asked him to take the reigns for next season's campaign, but revealed that he was yet to sign on the dotted line.

"I have been asked the question but it is not definite whether I will be staying on here - there are a few things that need to be discussed," he said.

"Until we have a chat then I can't say whether I will stay or not."

Cleevely paid tribute to his players and supporters after a positive response to a difficult campaign.

"When I took over, from the outside looking in, it looked like we were doomed," he said.

"But my players have shown a lot of pride and passion and that's what I was looking for.

"Of course I am disappointed to be relegated but our performances in the past few weeks will leave us in good stead for next season, whether I am here or not.

"Our supporters have been fantastic. They have got behind me and the team and everyone at the club really appreciates it."
