A man who tried to glass a shopkeeper and threatened to kill him during a robbery has been jailed for six years.
Lee Sadler, 24, took a swipe at the male shop assistant with a brandy bottle as he robbed an off-licence in Collingwood Road, Sutton, on January 14.
The 22-year-old worker dodged a blow to the head but was hit on his left shoulder and knocked to the ground.
The attacker grabbed a till containing £500 and said he would kill the man if he called the police.
Sadler had been in the shop earlier that day with another man who was banned from the premises.
The pair became abusive and only left after the shop worker pressed the panic alarm. Sadler then threatened to come back and cause trouble.
Sadler pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to six years in prison at Croydon Crown Court on Friday, April 20.
Detective Constable Darren Taheny said he was pleased with the substantial custodial sentence.
"This was a serious robbery which left the victim traumatised and quite scared," he said.
"Sadler has proved to be a dangerous individual and now he's locked away.
"I'm delighted justice has been done."
