Harrow Borough 1 Carshalton Athletic 2

Two fine goals from Mark Marshall saw Carshalton Athletic come from behind to earn victory on Saturday and increase Harrow Borough's relegation fears.

Carshalton dominated at the start with Marshall's quickly-taken free kick leading to Simon Cooper's shot being tipped over by the home keeper.

But Harrow took a 13th minute lead when a ball squirmed from keeper Aaron Howe's grasp, allowing Albert Adomah to tap the ball into the empty net.

Minutes later Luke Fontana looked likely to equalise when he held off a challenge to win a through ball, but with Keiran Jimmy advancing from goal his delicate lob cleared the keeper only to clip the crossbar.

Fontana was also inches away from Cartledge's header from a Marshall free kick.

The Robins were on top at this stage and scored a deserved equaliser on the half hour when good work down the left by Jack Mcleod and Mark Marshall ended with the Robin's winger beating Jimmy with a low drive that flashed in at the near post.

A poor clearance by John Cartledge almost gave Borough a chance, but David Graves came to the rescue with a fine tackle.

On the stroke of half time, the Robins should have taken the lead when Craig Dundas played a fine pass through to Charley Side.

The normally reliable striker should have scored, but he pulled his shot wide of the far post and the teams went in on level terms.

Harrow stepped up their game early in the second half with a succession of free kicks and corners.

But the Robins defence held firm and a good break involving Marshall and McLeod ended with Adrian Toppin shooting into the side netting.

Walters wasted a good chance for Harrow when he shot over from a corner, but 20 minutes into the half the Robins scored the second goal they had threatened for some time.

Marshall picked up the ball in the inside left channel and headed for goal twisting and turning to hold off the Borough defenders.

When the chance to shoot opened up, Marshall hit an unstoppable drive past Jimmy for his 14th and possibly his best competitive goal of the season.

From this point on the Robins were rarely troubled by Harrow despite the home side's refusal to give up their efforts.

A third goal looked likely on several occasions, but Fontana and Side had left their shooting boots at home and the Robins supporters had to be content with Marshall's outstanding strikes to secure the points.

It will be an anxious week for Harrow, but the Robins will hope to finish on a high and the dreams of what might have been this season and what might be achieved in the next.
