Crystal Palace striker Shefki Kuqi has become the latest Eagles player to criticise the fickle nature of a minority of the club's fans.

The Finnish international has been a target of the Selhurst Park boo-boys ever since he joined the Eagles in August.

The abuse reared its ugly head again during the clash with Sheffield Wednesday two weeks ago when he appeared as a second-half substitute.

Kuqi responded by netting a brace in the following home fixture against Preston North End a week later and he admitted it was an extra special feeling scoring after the abuse he received the previous week.

"I'm glad I scored a couple of goals to give me confidence and especially to show some of the fans after I was booed last week," said Kuqi.

"I have to say, not everyone, but some of them are the worst set of fans at any club I have every been at.

"To boo a player, not just me but other players, I do not think any of those fans will hurt as much as the players if we get beat.

"I came here to play football and to win games to get back into the Premiership. Otherwise I would not have come here. There's nothing worse than getting booed, but I'm glad some of them cheered me against Preston."

Kuqi's partnership with Clinton Morrison showed some promising signs against Preston, with the Republic of Ireland international setting up the Finn's second goal with a right-wing cross.

The duo did not perform to quite the same levels against Stoke three days later, but Kuqi says the level of understanding will grow with every game they play together.

"Everything takes time," he said.

"I came here with high expectations and everybody thought if you press a button everything will work. We need time on that training ground and the more time you spend then things will improve."
