Most businesses and homes have just seen power restored following a power cut to part of North Cheam.

The blackout saw around 4,000 customers, including yourlocalguardian.co.uk lose all electricity for approximately half-an-hour.

Power for most people returned to the area at around 4.30pm, but 700 customers are still without electricity.

An EDF spokesman said: "At just after 4pm today, about 4,000 customers in the London Road area of Cheam experienced an interruption to power supplies after two faults on underground power cables.

"EDF Energy Networks engineers managed to restore the vast majority of supplies in stages by 4.45pm, leaving about 700 customers without power.

"They continue to work to ensure supplies are restored to these customers as soon as possible.
