I am writing following a campaign meeting at the House of Commons on Monday which Siobhain McDonagh MP held with her Mitcham and Morden constituents who had offered to help in the campaign to save St Helier Hospital.
Siobhain and local councillors updated us that it is looking slightly more likely that the hospital will be rebuilt on the St Helier site rather than the Belmont site. This is brilliant news for local residents.
However, it is still early days and we still need to keep the pressure on. Can I urge all your readers to write to: Mr Steve Peacock Director of Better Healthcare Closer to Home c/o Sutton Hospital Cotswold Road Belmont Surrey SM2 5NF We need to write outlining why it is so important to keep our hospital "local" and at St Helier.
The hospital is a lifeline for my family and the thought of it moving away would be terrible for us and all patients living in the Mitcham and Morden area.
