More than 60 firefighters are tackling a blaze at a food factory in Brentford.

Crews from Heston, Ealing, Chiswick, Wembley and North Kensington were among more than 40 emergency vehicles called to Kosher Deli UK Ltd in Layton Road after the alarm was raised at 9.45am.

The fire was fuelled by the large amounts of cooking oil and food packaging within the factory. Almost 30 staff were evacuated from the two-storey building.

Firefighter Andy Pike said: "Luckily it was an isolated building so there was little risk of the fire spreading and luckily no one died or was injured and that's the way we want to keep it around here."

The alarm was raised by the firm's office manager, Vadrani Burgur. She said: "I raised the alarm at 9.45am and police were on the scene quickly. It took nearly an hour for fire services to bring the blaze under control."

Fire crews used a 100ft high turntable ladder to examine whether there was any structural damage to the building.

It is not yet known what started the blaze.
