Beckenham Town 2
Croydon FC 3

Croydon FC got the better of Beckenham Town in an entertaining encounter last Saturday.

The win narrows the gap between the Trams and leaders Whitstable Town to five points, after Town lost their season-long unbeaten run against Greenwich Borough.

Croydon put in an excellent first half performance, controlling the game and spraying the ball around.

On the balance of play, the Trams would have expected to take the lead long before Ray Freeman struck in the 42nd minute after latching on to Tim Murdoch's immaculate pass.

But, against the run of play, Beckenham struck back, deep into first half stoppage time through Jones Awusu.

Croydon took the lead again after 59 minutes, this time Freeman provided the pass for Murdoch to convert.

The lead again only lasted a matter of minutes. Wade Falana bundled a loose ball home to make it 2-2.

Neil John got the winner in the 72nd minute after Ryan Watts provided an excellent cross from the right that John converted emphatically.

Beckenham had a late rally, but the visitors clung on to the three points to aid what could prove to be a thrilling run-in.
