Warlingham go into this weekend's crunch London South West Four derby match against Old Caterhamians without their head coach.

Conrad Bool, who joined Warlingham last summer just after the Hamsey Green club had won Surrey League 1, resigned as head coach a week ago, citing pressure of work.

Peter Upton, Warlingham's playing chairman, has acted swiftly, and assistant coach Neil Crammond has been put in charge of the promising young squad through to the end of the season. Crammond, a former player at Warlingham and Streatham & Croydon, is targeting the Surrey 7s at Hamsey Green in May, where they plan to regain that prestigious county title which they won in 2005.

"Conrad has recently set up his own business and, understandably, his time available for coaching is insufficient for him to continue to commit himself to the head coach position," Upton said.

"Conrad joined us at the beginning of the season as we commenced our campaign back in London Division 4 after promotion last season. He brought with him considerable experience of higher league expectations and professionalism and we are sorry he has decided not to continue with us and wish him well for the future."

Under Bool, Warlingham consolidated their position in London SW 4. Despite losing several top players to long-term injuries, a handful of youngsters were able to establish themselves in the Warlingham first XV and they still only narrowly missed out on promotion in successive seasons.

Warlingham are sure of finishing third in the London SW4 division. "With the players that we have coming back from injury and the promising talent coming through," Upton said, "we should be in a very strong position next season."
