TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIAN AND VEHICULAR TRAFFIC

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate works in the highway associated with the Park Place development they have made an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrian and vehicular traffic movements in Fell Road, George Street, High Street, Croydon, Katharine Street, Park Lane and Park Street, Croydon.

2. Whilst the said works are taking place:
(a) no person shall cause any vehicle:
(i) proceeding in St George's Walk to turn right into Park Street; (This prohibition affects buses, taxis and cycles only)
(ii) to proceed in Park Lane, that length of carriageway connecting the southbound and northbound carriageways of Park Lane, the bus bridge, which lies between its junctions with George Street and Park Street;
(b) a one-way working would be introduced in Katharine Street:
(i) in a south-westerly direction, between its junctions with Park Lane and Fell Road; (ii) in a south-westerly direction, between its junctions with Fell Road and High Street, Croydon;
(These one-way workings will be introduced at different stages of the work)
(c) no person shall proceed along the public footway which lies on:
(i) the south-east side of George Street West, between Nos.16 and 20 George Street West and between Nos.36 and 42 George Street West;
(ii) the north-west side of Park Street, between St. George's Walk and Park Lane;
(d) 6 'pay and display' parking bays in that part of Fell Road south of Mint Walk will be converted to disabled parking bays with a 3 hour maximum stay limit;
(e) the existing limited time disabled bays in Fell Road between Katharine Street and Mint Walk will be suspended to locate a bus stand;
(f) the south-eastbound bus lane in Park Lane bus bridge imposed by the Croydon (Bus and Tram Priority) (No.1) Traffic Order 2004 will be suspended;
(g) the goods vehicle loading bay in High Street, Croydon imposed by the Croydon (Goods Vehicle) (Free Parking Places) (No.1) Traffic Order 2002 will be suspended;
(h) the taxi cab rank in High Street, Croydon, the west side, outside Nos.2 and 4 High Street, Croydon imposed by the Croydon (Prohibtion of Stopping on Cab Ranks) (No.1) Traffic Order 2005 will be suspended.

3. Whilst the works are taking place the alternative routes are as follows:
(a) in the case of 2(a)(i) above via Katharine Street and Park Lane;
(b) in the case of 2(a)(ii) above buses, taxis and cycles will be via Park Lane gyratory system and Park Lane;
(c) in the case of 2(b)(i) above via Park Lane, Park Street and St. George's Walk;
(d) in the case of 2(b)(ii) above via St. George's Walk and High Street, Croydon;
(e) in the case of 2(c) above via the opposite footways.

4. The Order will come into operation on the 29 March 2007 and the restrictions will operate for as long as necessary to enable the relevant works to be completed. However it is anticipated that the works will be carried out in 24 months.

(Vehicular and Pedestrian access will be maintained via the alternative routes)
