Hampton & Richmond 2 AFC Wimbledon 0

Hampton & Richmond continued to be AFC Wimbledon's jinx team when they beat them 2-0 at the Beveree on Saturday.

The Beavers have now won all four league contests with the Dons, who again had a player sent off against their old rivals.

The result saw Hampton climb from third place to second, with AFC dropping from second to fifth (before the FA appeal over a deduction of 18 points levied on AFC by the Ryman League).

Special arrangements put in place following discussions with the police over coping with a crowd of 1,800 worked well and the match proceeded peacefully (if you discount AFC fans' displeasure shown towards referee Ron Ganfield).

Hampton were without suspended players Francis Quarm and Tobi Jinadu, so Matt Elverson and Elliott Godrey returned. AFC Wimbledon included two players on loan from Brentford, Ryan Peters and keeper Clark Masters, and gave a debut to Lee O'Leary from Hendon.

Wimbledon's Jermaine Darlington (the ineligible player at the heart of their dispute) figured in an early attack, while Peters shot wide.

But after Lawrence Yaku sent an overhead effort narrowly off target, Hampton took the lead in the 28th minute. With Masters unable to clear following a strike by Ian Hodges, the alert Rob Paris grabbed his eighth goal of the season (not bad for a centre-back).

Two minutes later a lunging tackle on Marvin Bartley by O'Leary was punished by referee Ganfield with a red card.

AFC's 10 men went further behind in the 50th minute. Yaku squeezed a cross over from the tightest of angles and Hodges headed in his 18th goal of the season.

Lovett prevented the Dons replying by coming out bravely to save at D'Sane's feet.

Hampton: Lovett, Harper, Matthews (Harris, 75mins), Elverson, Paris, Wells, S Lake, Godfrey (R Lake, 65mins), Hodges, Yaku, Bartley (Inns, 49mins).
