Goalkeeper Chris Gibson's recall did not last long because he had to go off injured shortly before half-time as Leatherhead battled to gain a 0-0 draw at Whyteleafe in a game that finally got played after a number of postponements.
It was following a disputed free-kick that the Tanners keeper and Leafe's Sean Rivers collided. Gibson attempted to play on, but started to lose vision and was substituted by Paul Borg. Gibson, who had driven from his home in Birmingham, was left feeling shaky and with a huge lump on his head.
Following the disappointing performance on Saturday, Dave Harlow had brought back Gibson and defender Danny Lavender. Julian Thompson recovered from his mugging' against Ashford to lead the line with Marc Charles-Smith.
Gibson made two fine saves before he went off, while Leatherhead's James Greenaway had an early effort blocked.
The Tanners controlled most of the second half, but Borg had to deny the menacing Joe Clarke, making amends for his error in the previous game.
A draw was probably the right result and saw the Tanners rise two places in the league.
Leatherhead: Gibson (Borg), Beer, Hendry, Duncan, Lavender, Holmes, Sargent, Greenaway, Thompson, Charles-Smith, Bennetts.
